Volvo expresses its full support for the standardization of electric vehicle charging interfaces

According to foreign media reports, Volvo recently said that it is time to create a unified charging interface system for electric vehicles. It is reported that the company has given full support to the proposal put forward by Charging Interface IniTIaTIve. Dr. Peter Mertens, senior vice president of R&D at Volvo, said: "The charging infrastructure is not yet complete. In order to truly eliminate the driver's anxiety about the mileage, it is necessary to set up a global standard charging system."

Charging Interface IniTIaTIve proposes the "Combined Charging System", which includes both standard charging and fast charging functions. Currently, it can support a maximum charging power of 20 million (DC), which may increase to 350 in the future. kilowatt. At present, the 120 kW DC fast charge like the Tesla Super Charging System can provide electric vehicles with about 60 miles in about 10 minutes.

However, this solution means that all car manufacturers need to adopt the same standard. Obviously, this deployment is not easy. After all, the capital investment for this work is not small.
